Come see this year’s musical acts in the grandstands, take in a rodeo and demolition derby, try out some of our new food vendors, participate in the new Riding Class as part of the Draft Horse Show, and much more!

After working for a decade as a teacher and then serving as a Park Manager for Wausau and Marathon County for 20 years, Allen Opall got involved in Town of Rib Mountain Government.

He has close to 2 decades at the helm for the Town of Rib Mountain, and spent the last 6 years representing Rib Mountain while also serving on the Marathon County Board of Supervisors. His interest in civics and local government is matched (or perhaps exceeded) by his love for the outdoors. Karyn Powers :: Resilient, Remarkable, & Retiring After 30+ Years With the County

A month before her retirement, Karyn Powers strolls down memory lane and discusses her 30+ years working for the Wausau & Marathon County Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department.

Prior to returning to Marathon County after interning in Wausau her senior year of college, she spent 5 years working for the Department of Defense for the U.S. Navy in Iceland and for the U.S. Army in South Korea.

This adventurous woman traveled far and wide, only to find her way back to a public service position with Marathon County once more, where in addition to serving as Recreation Superintendent, she is an accomplished poet, author, painter, and, of course, lover of all things outdoors. United Way of Marathon County Enhances Children’s Language Skills, Helps Teens Get Jobs at Upcoming Hiring Fair, & Surveys Family-Friendly Workplace Policies During a Pandemic

United Way of Marathon County’s Early Years Coalition and Partnership for Youth provide resources and activities for ages 0 to 21 years. Never has this work been more important than during a pandemic.

Marathon Park Indoor Ice Arenas Get a Multipurpose Facelift

Watching Wausau RiverWolves hockey games and renting private ice time are a few of the ways the public can see and appreciate recent renovations (totaling $332,735) completed at Marathon Park’s indoor ice arenas — including updates to the flooring, dasher boards, and tempered glass, as well as the refrigeration and sound systems.

4-H Has Something 4-Everyone :: A Look at the 4-H Exhibits of the 150th County Fair

Take a visual tour of some of the highlights of this year’s 4-H exhibits at the 150th Wisconsin Valley Fair. A whopping 725 youth displayed over 11,000 exhibits at Marathon Park that they worked on throughout the year.
