KEYNOTES
Each unique day starts with a keynote speaker lecturing on current and relevant topics. This year features:
- Jerry Apps, noted author and Wisconsin State Historian on “Barns of Wisconsin”
- Melanie Radzicki McManus, journalist and editor as she recounts her memoir of walking the Ice Age National Scenic Trail – “Thousand Miler: Adventures Hiking the Ice Age Trail”
- Professor Stephen Mark Carey, Chair of the German Department at University of Minnesota, Morris, on “The Invention of German Ethnicity”
After each day’s opening speaker, “students” will participate in morning and afternoon university-style lecture classes. Each day, the instructors — many who are UW college professors and Wausau community members — will teach the registrants and build upon the information learned over the course of the 3 days.
A.M. SESSION
For the morning sessions, students have a broad selection of topics from which to choose:
- Discussion on the civilization of ancient Egypt,
- Understanding the symbiosis between healthy humans and healthy plants,
- Identifying fake news and safe journalist sources, or
- Understanding Emotional Intelligence.
Students then break between morning and afternoon sessions to enjoy a delicious soup and sandwich buffet from 2510 Catering in Wausau.
P.M. SESSION
In the afternoon sessions, students have the opportunity to learn about:
- Wisconsin and the Civil War,
- The music of Italy and Spain,
- The plight of the honey bee, or

2019 Spring Continuing Education Catalog
It’s been 6 months since the merger between the UW-Stevens Point and the Wausau and Marshfield campuses. It’s an exciting time as we continue to integrate as a regional unit as part of the UWSP Office of Economic and Community Development.
We are working to meet the unique needs of each community by matching the resources and expertise of all three campuses to develop and deliver innovative programs for industry, the community, and youth.
Our Spring 2019 catalog (set to be delivered in early January 2019) will provide information on dates, times, and — perhaps most importantly — locations. The catalog will showcase current offerings both from the Wausau Campus and the Marshfield Campus, as well as some of the unique services and offerings from the main Stevens Point Campus that are now available to the region.
Moving forward, we plan to offer some similar programming at all three locations, but for now, the activities will have content unique to each location developed in partnership with local stakeholders and offered at each campus.
NOTE: During this continuing transition, locations and registration processes may be unique to each campus.
Continuing Education at all three locations is committed to building community relations and offering lifelong learning opportunities for personal enrichment and professional development.
We invite you to visit the Continuing Education page of our website in January for our Spring 2019 catalog of our featured offerings and outings for the new year!
