Nyob Zoo (Hello), Friends.

Each year, Dream Big: 2056 scholarships are given to four Hmong students who plan to complete college and return to Marathon County to live and work.

Dream_Big_LogoThe second annual “Dream Big: 2056” scholarship fundraiser event will take place this year on Saturday, April 8, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. The event is a fun-filled evening with food; a silent auction; and local Hmong artists, singers, and dancers. The program will be led by Master of Ceremonies, Bao Vang, with Keynote Speaker Dr. Kevin Thao.

Area school superintendents Kristine Gilmore and Kathleen Williams will square off in a traditional Hmong dance-off!

If you missed the 2016 dance-off between current County Administrator Brad Karger and former County Administrator Mort McBain, be sure to check out last year’s dance-off video of Brad “gettin’ down” below.

In 2016, “Dream Big: 2056” was inspired by the 40th anniversary of the arrival of the first Hmong Americans in Marathon County. The fundraiser theme, “Dream Big: 2056” points out that while Hmong Americans have made significant strides in our community since 1976, there is much more to be achieved in the next 40 years.

Providing an opportunity for Hmong American students to obtain a college degree is an important step and helps our community succeed as a whole.

Dream_Big_CakeTickets and sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, please contact the Hmong American Center at 715-842-8390 or purchase your tickets online here.

Event information is also available as a PDF flyer and on the event’s Facebook page.”

We hope to see you on April 8.

Ua tsaug ntau (Thank you very much) and DREAM BIG!
